It wasn't until years later when they both had graduated and found themselves reunited in Hoboken, NJ that they were able to reconnect and admit the feelings they each had for each other…though, it took some time to get to that point. Brendan eventually confessed to Chelsey about the day he stopped by her parent's house in the summer of 2008 and was mesmerized by her black bathing suit and Chelsey admitted to Brendan about the time her Mom sweetly compared him to her Dad at a Lehigh football game; each of them slowly realizing that their school-yard crush was reciprocated.
Turning a crush into an adult relationship posed a challenge to Brendan, who enjoyed spending time with Chelsey so much; he didn't want to ruin such a good thing. They spent their days chatting and goofing around on the Internet and avoiding work and their evenings out with friends in Hoboken. They were always unsure if the other was actually interested in a relationship, but always knew how much they loved doing things together. They even did things like ice skating in Bryant Park and beer garden nights out, but Chelsey always left having had a great time, chatting the details through with her mom, wondering if it was, in fact, a date. Eventually, after a heart-to-heart with Chelsey's sister at a Lehigh reunion weekend and later, with the encouragement of two of their closest friends, Quinn and Alex, Brendan finally decided to ask Chelsey on an official date.
